Amelie’s Wintertime Cookies: Recipe

By staff writer Amelie Simpson
This is a recipe I bake every winter. These snickerdoodles are chewy and sweet.
Ingredients
- ½ cup of butter
- ½ cup of sugar
- ⅓ cup of brown sugar
- 1 egg
- ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1-½ cups of flour
- ¼ teaspoon of salt
- ½ teaspoons of baking soda
- ¼ teaspoons of cream of tartar
Toppings
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
Directions
Preheat the oven to 300°. In a large bowl, cream together the sugars and butter. Next, add the egg and and the vanilla extract. In a second bowl, mix flour, salt, baking soda, and cream of tartar. After that, combine the the dry and wet ingredients. Roll the dough into balls about 2-½ teaspoons and roll them in a mixture made of 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Place the cookies on a greased cookie sheet and bake them for 12 minutes. When the cookies have chilled, they will be very chewy and soft. Enjoy!
