Cupcake Wars frosts the competition

by staff writers Sofia Coffin and Giselle Morris

Desserts came to Bay Farm with Cupcake Wars, a battle of the cupcakes.

Each baker from kindergarten through 8th grade who entered submitted 12 cupcakes. The submitted cupcakes were judged on appearance, taste, and creativity. The entries were judged by Crispian Bakery, Whisk Cake Creations and Alameda Mayor Trish Spencer.

The first place winner was 5th-grader Nicholas Myovich-Robertson with his entry of “Campfire Delights”. For second place, 2nd-grader Krista Mehlberg with her entry titled “Krista’s Flower Pots;” and winning the title of third place was kindergartner Olivia Myovich-Robertson with her delectable entry of  “Fun in Hawaii”.

This delicious fundraiser was loosely based on the Food Network’s culinary show, Cupcake Wars.
