Middle School puts on first “Fun-Raiser”

BFMS hosted its first “Fun-Raiser” at AMF Southshore Lanes in December: A part fundraiser for the middle school, and part fun time for sixth, seventh and eighth graders.
The event was originally scheduled to be an ice skating extravaganza with an alternative for bowling. Unfortunately, the ice skating part of the event was canceled due to incoming rain.
Many who attended didn’t mind the cancelled ice skating. “I had a blast,” said sixth-grader Zelinda Strell. Sixth-grader Sidney Ung agreed: “I liked how the games were unlimited until 6.”
Despite some grumblings about the length of the food lines, most had fun and the event ended up making about $200, which will go toward future events.
A special thanks to the Middle School Fun Committee parents that organized this event, including Erick Wonzen, Tina Hong, Heather Dooley, Kelly Brady and Aida DuPree. Their committee plans to work with student leadership to organize more fun events through the rest of the year.
